The Anti Mommy Bias

In this article " The Anti Mommy Bias" by Nancy Folber, its says "Employers often define ideal managers as individuals who are not only smart, reliable and committed, but also willing to drop everything else in their life to get the job done." What this is saying is you have to be willing to take on a role that you will be fully committed to getting the job done, so you should be able to stop doing something that you were doing before and be able to work. You shouldn't have other things in the way that will prevent you from doing your job.

This can be related to women having unfair penalties because they care for others. Women who have children, have responsibilities of taking care of them and other things around the house. So their basicaly saying these kind of women are more likely to be less committed to their jobs because they would be to busy taking care of their children. Both female and male students rated mothers lower on competence and commitment, recommended lower salaries for them, and judged them less worthy of promotion than childless women. Why should that be the case? Is that fair for women? I think that eventhough employer's see maternal responsibility bound women working just as hard and long as anybody else they tend to stereotype them.
Both female and male students rated mothers lower on competence and commitment, recommended lower salaries for them, and judged them less worthy of promotion than childless women. No women should get the fair amount based on what they are capable of doing at their job not based on their home responsibilties! Many women are capable of bearing children and still getting the job done.

Check this article I found _http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/26/family-responsibility-discrimination-would-ayn-like-fred/____________. Don't you think we would be better off if we used this policy Let me know !!
